A message from Tina of the North about Summer solstice, a time filled with celebrations
Living near the Polar circle means you are in a special connection to the sun.
If you are lucky, you may see us singing about frogs and dancing a special dance around a decorated pole. Something very normal for us.
Midsummer is filled with rituals as we want to feel the light in Mind, Body, Heart, and Spirit.
The sun stays above the horizon for days.
In the evening you can watch the sun almost touching the horizon, as if she is teasing Mother Earth, before heading back up in the sky. It is easy to stay up all night just to be in the light.
We gather energy, because we know that in the Midwinter our sun will stay below the horizon, as we are in a state of wintering (a very suitable term Jacquie Mendez taught me).
And the winter turns to Late Winter, Spring, Pre Summer, Summer, Late Summer, Fall, Pre Winter and Winter: The Eight Seasons of the North.
But now it is Summer and I can walk barefoot in the grass, play outside and swim in the lake.
A good time in my life and I send you all greetings from the North.
